What's Hot
Summer'07 Trends!
Summer '07 trends are pretty and feminine. If you are a sporty natural or a "non-girly" dresser do not fret! This season's trends are still comfortable and very practical. Any shape and size can find a piece to suit their personality. Summer is about enjoying your few months of warmer weather. Do it in style to look your best!
Here's the top 5 summer '07 trends that we consider "must haves":
1. The Dress: One of the easiest and fool proof ways to look pretty and feminine. Try them on, you might surprise yourself and enjoy it.
Teens & 20's: try the 60's inspired trapeze dress with leggings and flats. Try a smokey eye and pale lip. Choose high gloss accessories.
30's+: A wrap dress is totally amazing on almost all body shapes. Show your cleavage for evening with a metallic heel but wear a camisole to be more discreet by day. Add a wedge heel and you're on the road to pretty and feminine that's easy and comfortable.
2. Metallics: Once reserved for evening, metallics are showing up not only in shoes and purses, but belts, embellishments and clothing. Add silver or gold to your wardrobe for easy sophistication.
3. Flat Shoes: Ballet flats are everywhere and in every price point imaginable. Trade in your flip flops for a cute pair in the best quality you can afford. If you have heavier legs, look for flats that have a little bit of a heel.
4. Tote Bags: Ahhh! The oversize tote bag is a must! Choose a metallic or patent bag. Carry a smaller purse inside your tote to carry your wallet and other essentials.
5. Cropped Jacket: This is an easy way to update your look. Choose a shorter jacket (hip bone or higher) with 3/4 length sleeves! Wow!

A Message From Shirley
Self tanners, a pretty dress and a comfortable pair of flats! What could be more refreshing? Perhaps a spritzer on your back deck watching the sun set with your friends... Enjoy your few months of warmer weather... May it remind you how blessed you are.

White Hot
White still remains THE colour to build your perfect summer wardrobe. A pair of white pants is classic and chic. Every store has them. Beware: try on one size larger to avoid embarrassing see through dimples. Wear skin tone underwear not white because it shows through.
A crisp cotton white blouse with a stand up collar will serve you very well. Buy the best quality you can afford. Use it as a blazer on warmer summer days over a camisole or alone slightly buttoned down to show a smidge of cleavage. Roll the sleeves up to 3/4 length to show off stacks of brackets. Team it with darker jeans and a metallic heel and you are set to look polished and chic!
Accessories: White tote bags and purses are popular this summer. A white belt adds drama to navy and black basics.
Laundry care: Beware! Dry cleaning can grey or yellow your whites. Best to hand wash and dry in the bight sunlight which will naturally bleach your whites.

Sunglasses: Choosing a flattering shape
Sunglasses add amazing style but also provide protection to your eyes from damaging UVA and UVB rays. Wear them all year long and buy the best quality you can afford.
Round face: choose angular lines to balance a fuller face.
Square/Rectangle face: choose rounded edges to soften your angular features.
Heart-shaped/Diamond face: your cheekbones are your widest feature compared to your forehead or pointed chin. Choose rectangle frames that do not extend past the sides of your face.
Oval: you have balanced proportions. Choose Aviator or Jackie-O styles. Try oversized for drama.

Sunscreen: Dr. Paul
Sunscreen is a must to maintain your skin's health and prevent sunburns, rapid or premature aging and an unhealthy appearance.
Q. If my daily moisturizer has an SPF of 15, am I getting enough sun protection? If not, then how much protection is recommended?
A. For people planning to be in the sun for an uninterrupted period of a few hours, a sun block with SPF of 15 is definitely not enough. One exceptional product on the market, a skin foundation from Jane Iredale, offers an SPF 20. This foundation stays on the skin all day long, while still offering protection. Most other products will rapidly wear off. With your moisturizer of 15 and a foundation of 20, that gives you SPF 35 which is enough. Shirley will gladly help you choose the appropriate Jane Iredale product.
Q. Does my age matter on how much sun protection I need?
A. The youngest (children) and the more mature skin (70), definitely needs the most protection from solar radiation. Children are most active: they go to water on the beach many times, run around and sweat a lot and their skin protection needs to be replenished many times during a summer day. As skin thickness diminishes with age and loses several protective features like moisture content and melanocytes offering some protection from a sun burn, more mature skin needs to protect their skin meticulously.
Q. Can sensitive skin use sunscreen?
A. People with sensitive skin need sun block and should use special products developed for sensitive skin. In order to check if a given product is readily tolerated by their skin, they should request a demo application or a sample of a product.
